It doesn’t mean just because Christmas has ended the fun stops, “oh no!” All residents and relatives donned on the hats and joined in with the Scottish entertainment for Burns Night, all having a great time!
Although the weather was dull, inside Downsvale was full of life preparing for the Brazilian Carnival. It was a time filled with arts and crafts, music, quizzes, games as well as tasting the delights from Brazil. A very colourful and lively event, which all the residents and (relatives who joined us) appeared to enjoy.
Everyone at Downsvale got into the festivities of St Patrick’s Day from making the decorations to tasting the Irish delights from Barmbrack to Guinness. There was something for all residents, relatives and staff to enjoy as well as wearing the accessories to get into that party spirit.
However, it didn’t stop with residents putting their creative caps on and doing their bit for charity, raising money for Comic Relief making and decorating cookies.
This month was filled with lots of arts and crafts from decorating the tree and eggs to making individual felt eggs, the residents had a crafts eggstravaganza!
Spring is definitely in the air and to start the month the residents put together some lovely pieces of artwork and poetry together.
Residents also planted vegetables in the planter and tended to them daily. Towards the end of May, they had a visit from some reptile friends.
With the fresh crisp air in the morning and bright warm sunny days in the day. More residents ventured outside to tend to the edible garden and socialise with friends and family.
Downsvale also had the pleasure of Dorking Museum visiting. Towards the end of the month Armed Forces Day was celebrated at the home with live entertainment, dancing, merriment and food.
Now everything is in bloom, short sleeves and short tops are a requirement for all in this beautiful summer sun. The tennis is on and strawberries and cream has been served multiple times at Downsvale.
Residents have also been busy doing lots of different crafts.
