It’s a difficult decision
Caring after a loved one with high Nursing needs or Dementia by yourself can be a challenging, tiring and a distressing experience. Coping with someone you have known for years not recognising you is very distressing and difficult to deal with.
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when you added the need for constant support and side effects such as incontinence.
Joining the community at Downsvaleis a perfect solution to giving your loved one the best possible quality of life, whilst relieving you of the stress of looking after someone with Dementia.
Specially Equipped to Deal with Nursing and Dementia needs
The home provides a specially designed environment to suit people with Nursing and Dementia needs. For example, we provide specialist nursing equipment such as nursing beds, pressure care mattress etc to support our resident’s nursing needs.
Whether you are looking for long term residential care for your loved one or you just need a short-term break from caring, you’ll find the Downsvale Nursing Home has a warm welcome, an excellent reputation and a very high standard of care and facilities.
Fun and engaging activities
Your loved one will be experiencing the world differently to you do. The connection between objects and their actions which we take for granted are a cause for major frustration for people with Dementia.
We take a personalised approach and seek to learn what activities might be meaningful to them, creating joy and promoting independence.
Throughout the year there are celebrations and activities. Seasonal favourites include; Easter bonnets to make; fireworks on bonfire night; pantomimes and cards at Christmas.
The activities calendar includes Pianist and other musicians playing old songs, quizzes, animal therapy, craft making and art classes and gentle therapeutic exercise sessions. The Hairdresser and Chiropody is available as arranged. Once a month there is a church service with communion followed in the afternoon by a church choir to lead hymn singing.

I am so happy to be in Downsvale, I feel safe and secure and so well looked after. The staff are so very caring and friendly. My family are close by and are able to call in whenever they can. I cannot be in a happier place for my last days."
"- Valerie T , Dec 2015
We found the family, warm and informal atmosphere of Downsvale very reassuring. The staff were always approachable, treating our mother with kindness and respect. The owner, with his family, was very ‘hands on’ and interested in the residents as individuals."
"- Clare M , Sept 2015
Everyone at Downsvale has been so kind and caring not only to my father but to the whole family. We have visited many care homes and none deliver the level of support, care and homeliness that Downsvale do. Staff- excellent, food- excellent. Very very pleased."
